Upon moving into New York after graduation, she endured a lengthy period of working in off-Broadway productions before finding a role on the television series 'E.R.' It was not long before she had her first appearance on the big-screen; she made an appearance in films such as 'Permanently Midnight" and "Coyote Ugly. In the arduous transition from television and film production, Bello garnered widespread acclaim for her believable portrayals of difficult female character. In films like "Auto Focus" and "The Cooler" and "The Cooler," which helped establish her standing as an actor, earned her much attention. She gained popularity after her performance in the award-winning supporting role in the dramatic film 'A History of Violence..'
